Operating a construction firm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina for over 15 years, Ted Vitale focuses his efforts on commercial, retail, and restaurant developments. By adopting new hardware types at his job sites, Ted Vitale increases his employees’ efficiency while reducing costs.

One notable innovation at job sites involves replacing human workers with robots. Robots can perform repetitive tasks faster than humans, allowing companies to reallocate people to more intensive work. Robots are especially useful in completing tasks like tying rebar, otherwise a prevalent source of injuries in human workers.

Another emerging hardware type at construction sites is assembling modularly designed buildings. Modular design allows companies to build segments of a building offsite, transport them to their final destination, and make them. This reduces waste when completing large projects and increases workplace safety because workers don’t have to intervene as often during assembly as they do at a traditional building site.
